Calling a plumber for simple repairs in the kitchen or bathroom isn’t just overkill; it’s often expensive overkill. Something like a leaky faucet can be handled by anyone who has some basic tools and a general willingness to turn a wrench. Most faucets that leak have a damaged or faulty O-ring inside them. The O-ring is what seals the connection between where the water comes out and the faucet starts. Simply turning off the water, and removing the faucet to replace this O-ring is easy, and usually enough to stop the annoying leak.
